A three-alarm fire burned directly across from a trolley stop in Beechview, forcing the Port Authority to block service in that area.
Firefighters battled the flames Wednesday afternoon at an apartment building in the 1500 block of Fallowfield Avenue, next to the Fallowfield "T" station.
No injuries have been reported.
At the Pittsburgh Fire Bureau's request, the Port Authority temporarily shut down tracks in the affected area and detoured trolleys to the Overbrook line. Shuttles were sent to pick up passengers at the affected stops.
Also, Duquesne Light said it was asked by fire officials to de-energize a circuit in the area, causing a temporary power loss for about 185 customers.
The Port Authority said trolleys resumed normal operations at about 8:30 p.m., except at the Fallowfield stop, which must remain closed until the damaged building is torn down.
Passengers who normally use the Fallowfield station can go to the Hampshire Avenue stop instead.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. WTAE Channel 4 Action News reporter Janelle Hall has confirmed that police are looking for two young males who were seen running away from the apartment building.
