A former Parma firefighter was sentenced Wednesday for exposing himself to several young girls.
John Laguardia came face to face with his victims in the courtroom, and emotions ran high as the children spoke about how Laguardia violated them, NewsChannel5 reported.
Laguardia pleaded guilty to dozens of indecency counts, and was sentenced to three years in prison. Several 15-year-old girls had reported seeing a naked man several times in Cleveland's West Park neighborhood and in Parma.
One Cleveland detective followed a tip from a relative, leading police to Laguardia.
"We observed Mr. LaGuardia driving. At the time of his arrest, he was completely naked," said Detective Jeanie Joyce.
The 44-year-old former firefighter called his actions shameful and a disgrace, and he offered an apology.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Kathleen Ann Sutula told Laguardia his sexual actions harmed the lives of 42 victims, some of whom said they were still frightened.
