The Harford County Fire Department said hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel spilled into the Chesapeake Bay on Tuesday.
Officials said a barge that was docked at the Millard E. Tydings Memorial Park sank and released between 100 and 300 gallons of fuel. A booming system was set up to contain the fuel, but it didn't work.
The U.S. Coast Guard said Wednesday afternoon that the Pennsylvania-based Mobile Dredging and Pumping Co. lifted a 25-foot push boat thank sank Monday night when they noticed an estimated 100 gallons of diesel.
The company has since established a containment system around the vessel to contain the fuel. They continue to investigate a cause for the boat's sinking.
