California's professional firefighters showed off their considerable cooking talents in a third annual ''milk and cookies'' recipe contest -- and the winners' cookie recipes are now available to all cooks in the 2006 Milk and Cookies Calendar.
The calendars are available from Oct. 1, and all proceeds benefit the California Firefighters Memorial and families of fallen firefighters.
The calendar is published by the California Milk Advisory Board, which also organizes the recipe contests. It features 12 new cookie recipes, including Grandma Bert's Whirlygigs, along with color photographs of firefighters, fire stations _ and cookies.
The whirlygig cookie recipe, the winning entry for the month of October, is from Clinton Marsalek, a California Department of Forestry firefighter based in Riverside County.
