Questions Arise Following Texas Firefighter's Accident

Former and current department members said the injured firefighter should never have been called out to the fire.

ALTON-- Two days after a motorcycle accident landed an Alton volunteer firefighter in the intensive care unit, several current and former department members are questioning the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Luis Guerrero was responding to a call Saturday night about a brush fire when his motorcycle and a truck collided off 5-Mile Line and Chicago Street in Alton about a block from his home.

Guerrero remained in the ICU at McAllen Medical Center on Monday afternoon, sustained by blood transfusions and a respirator and suffering from swelling around his brain, friends and family members said.
