Kansas Firefighters Battle Flames, Wind

Feb. 17, 2006
Water had to be shuttled to the blaze that destroyed a house.

Officials said strong winds helped fan a fire that destroyed a house in Miami County Thursday night.

Flames swept across a home at 329th Street and Cedar Niles Road.

Firefighters from Fontana, Paola and Osawatomie helped battle the blaze.

However, the closest hydrant was two miles away, so they had to haul water to the fire.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
