The cause remains under investigation.

A fire damaged a Highland Heights condominium building early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the Highland Ridge complex just before 1 a.m. A resident said she was awakened by a smoke detector and found a fire in her apartment.

When fire crews arrived, the fire had run up the back of the building into the attic.

The exact amount of damage has not been determined, but about 20 people were displaced by the fire. Fire officials said most will be allowed to return to their units sometime Wednesday morning.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
