Florida Firefighters Confront Black Smoke In Blaze

A two-alarm fire ravaged an Arlington business

At least 13 engine companies battled a fire at a business in Arlington, and traffic in the area was disrupted during the morning commute by firefighting efforts.

Just before 6 a.m., an employee arriving for work at Continental Printing on Cesery Boulevard saw the flames and called 911.

Arriving firefighters found thick, black smoke produced by a large amount of burning paper covering the entire neighborhood. A second alarm was sounded when it appeared the fire might spread to neighboring businesses.

No injuries were reported in the fire. Minor smoke damage was reported to other storefronts in the strip mall.

Just before 8 a.m., Cesery Boulevard reopened between Terry Parker Drive South to Commerce Street, which was closed for about two hours due to the firefighting efforts.

The fire marshal told Channel 4's Bryan Kelly that they had not identified the source of the fire, but it was ruled accidental.

More than a dozen employees of the family-owned printing company were salvaging what they could from the 30-year-old business.

"We may be down, but we're not out," said Continental's operations manager, Craig Ashley. "We're going to rebuild and get going again."
