North Texas firefighters spent Friday morning battling a large three-alarm fire inside a hangar at the Aero Country airport in McKinney that officials say was fed by fuel.

When firefighters arrived at the hangar at about 5 a.m. Friday the hangar was fully engulfed in flames, forcing the firefighters to take a defensive stance for battling the fire.

"Because it was fully involved, we did defensive operations and fought the fire from the outside. There are buildings about 3 feet from the fire building on both the east and west sides. So, our main focus was to contain the fire to the original building," said Mark Wallace with the McKinney Fire Department.

About 50 firefighters from McKinney, Frisco and Celina battled the early-morning fire and managed to contain the blaze to the one hangar.

The hangar was owned by a landscaping company, and while there was fuel inside the hangar, there were no aircraft. Most of the contents of the hangar and two cars were destroyed by the fire, NBC 5 reported.

There were no injuries reported in the fire.
