Iowa Teens Charged with Torching Church

The two 13-year-old girls have been referred to juvenile authorities.

Two teenage girls have been arrested in connection with setting a fire at a Des Moines church.

Firefighters were called to Grace United Methodist Church at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 28.

Investigators said the fire was intentionally set.

Olivia Gourd, 13, of Ankeny and Jesse Clement, 13, of Des Moines, were arrested on first-degree arson charges.

They have been referred to the Polk County Juvenile Court, according to a news release.
