(Secaucus, NJ-WABC, September 23, 2005) - This morning dozens of utility crews are heading to Texas to help in the recovery efforts before Hurricane Rita hits. They're going south as evacuees head north to our area.

Eyewitness News reporter Ken Rosato is live in Secaucus with more. PSEG is sending a caravan of crews and special equipment, to go down and help with what is expected to be an absolute mess in the wake of Hurricane Rita.

More than 30 police officers, firefighters, and workers from the Office of Emergency Management are also gearing up for the 33 hour haul down to Texas.

They're bringing supplies and a much needed helping hand. It's expected that they'll probably be there anywhere from two to three weeks.

Crews are expected to leave by 7:00 this morning.
