San Antonio Firefigher Cleared of Ethics Violation

The complaints centered around acceptance of gifts.

A story out of the San Antonio, Texas Fire Department last November detailed complaints of ethics rules violation against Chief Robert Ojeda, Assistant Chief Carl Wedige and Lt. Jim Reidy. The complaints centered around acceptance of airfare, hotels, meals and gifts from a City of San Antonio vendor.

On January 23, the city's Ethics Review Board determined that complaints filed against San Antonio Fire Chief Robert Ojeda and Assistant Fire Chief Carl Wedige were groundless and frivolous.

The board found that Lt. Jim Reidy had not violated the ethics Section 2-45 (receiving gifts) but had evidence suggesting he failed to follow the correct methods of reporting the receiving of gifts. The board found that the reporting violation "was clearly unintentional or inadvertent on your part".

The following is the entirety of the letter Reidy received from the San Antonio Ethics Review Board.
