Elderly Couple Escapes Burning Houston Home

Houston firefighters found heavy smoke coming out of the one-story home when they arrived.

An elderly couple escaped from their burning home in southwest Houston early Friday morning, KPRC Local 2 reported.

The fire broke out at a home on West Shady Lane near Shady Lane Circle at about 2 a.m.

Officials said the fire started in a back room and spread to the attic.

Part of the home sustained moderate damage.

The elderly residents were not injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
