DENISON, Ia. --
Firefighters in Denison rescued a fisherman from a lake on Friday.
The rescue took place at Yellow Smoke Park.
Fire Chief Mike McKinnon said the fisherman didn't anticipate the ice on the lake being unstable and fell through.
A passerby saw him and called 911.
Firefighters on the scene pulled the fisherman out and he was flown by by medical helicopter to an Omaha hospital.
Four of the rescuers also went to the hospital to get checked out for hypothermi, but turned out OK.
Chief McKinnon said the ice is deceiving and it's not a good time to ice fish.
