Arson is suspected as several fires were discovered on different floors.

Fire investigators think an arsonist may have set fire to an abandoned grain elevator on Saturday afternoon.

Nine Des Moines fire crews were called just after 2 p.m. to the ADM Milling Building at East 19th Street and Grand Avenue.

Firefighters found several fires on both the second and third floors of the building.

"Upon our arrival, firefighters noticed there were smoke and flames coming out the west side of the building. They went around to the other side, found one of the doors appears to be kicked in or dislodged. They entered into the building. There was multiple points where the fire has been set, apparently," said Brian O'Keefe, of the Des Moines Fire Department.

Investigators asked that anyone with information about the fire to call (515) 283-4811.
