Three people are dead and as many as three others are missing after a fire in a mobile home in Lake Shore overnight, according to WJXT-TV in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville Fire-Rescue officials confirmed that one adult and two children died in the home in the 1300 block of Mull Street. Firefighters are going through the rubble of the home looking for other victims.

Neighbors said six people lived in the mobile home, WJXT reported.

A fire department spokesman described the fire as "a raging inferno" when the first units arrive.

"When they arrived here at the scene, numerous explosions could be heard, that proved to be, later, as a result of oxygen bottles, propane tanks, things of that nature," JFRD's Tom Francis said.

"I just heard a big boom and come outside and the whole house is engulfed in flames," said a next-door neighbor who identified himself only as David. "I just went over and just broke a few windows and just tried to call some names. Nobody answered."

David told WJXT-TV's Nikki Preede that an elderly woman, a man and four children live in the home.

Firefighters said the three known victims were found in the bedrooms. They also said no working smoke detectors were found in the mobile home.

Investigators were working to determine what caused the fire.
