Orlando Fires May be Work of Serial Arsonist

Vacant homes have been targeted.

Fire officials in Orlando, Fla., fear a serial arsonist may be on the loose after several suspicious fires in a neighborhood, according to Local 6 News.

Investigators said fires in Orlando's Lockhart neighborhood this week were the work of an arsonist.

The latest blaze destroyed an abandoned home that did not have electricity.

"How can a fire start in a building that no one is living in and has no electricity or utilities going into it," Orange County fire spokeswoman Maryanne Nuckles said.

Another home damaged by fire this week was under construction and also vacant.

Neighbors told Local 6 News that abandoned homes in the area have created a haven for troublemakers and they are worried about their homes, Local 6 reporter Erik von Ancken.
