Vacant Philly School Burns

April 6, 2006
Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours.

A fire broke out in a vacant school in west Philadelphia late Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to the three-alarm fire at 55th and Cedar streets late Thursday. The building used to house the Transfiguration School, which closed about two years ago.

Crews had the fire under control early Thursday morning but were still fighting the smoke and flames at 6 a.m.

No injuries have been reported.
