Investigation Finds San Antonio Breathing Apparatus Defective

Emanates from an incident last autumn when regional firefighter's lives were put in jeapordy

KENS 5 has reported an examination from the Southwest Research Institute that found found a defective protective coating and various loose connections on malfunctioning self-contained breathing apparatus formerly in the possesion of San Antonio firefighters .

The story also shows regional firefighters to be strongly upset with the devices' shortcomings, and insistent upon change.

The functionality of breathing apparatus has come under scrutiny in the region since defective devices endagered the lives of city firefighters last October. Since then, there have been repeated accounts of the apparatus' failures.

Nonetheless, no firefighters have been injured resulting from malfunction.
