SOMERSET TOWNSHIP, Pa. --

A house burned to the ground while a family was away for the Easter holiday.

Firefighters said a home along Scott Road in Somerset Township was destroyed.

They said they responded to the blaze late Sunday morning, but by the time they arrived, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the top floor.

With no nearby fire hydrants, they were forced to haul in water via tanker trucks.

The family was in Bedford County visiting relatives.

Investigators said there has been no word on what sparked the fire.
