Louisiana Fire Chief Killed in Crash

Coushatta's fire chief has been killed in a motorcylce accident.

Louisiana State Police say Hendrix Fowler III died around 2 a.m. Sunday on Tauzin Island Road in Natchitoches Parish.

Fowler, 30, was thrown from his bike and into a ditch. Troopers believe Fowler had been in the ditch several hours before a passing motorist noticed the wreck.

Troopers say Hendrix was wearing a helmet. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Hendrix had been with the department for more than 12 years and had been fire chief for the past year and a half.
