Accident Injures Several California Firefighters

The rig skidded out of control and overturned during drills.

Several firefighters suffered minor injuries Monday when the rig they were in skidded out of control and overturned while they were taking part in drills in a South Bay church parking lot, officials reported.

The accident occurred in the 4700 block of Bonita Road shortly after 3:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Medics took the injured personnel to Scripps Mercy Hospital.

It was not immediately clear why the firetruck crashed, CHP public information Officer Mark Gregg told reporters.
