Pennsylvania Family Rescued from Roof

A smoke detector alerted the family.

BROWNSVILLE, Pa. --

Firefighters perform a rooftop resuce at a burning home in Fayette County overnight.

The fire started around 3 a.m. Tuesday in Brownsville.

Seven people lived in the house. Many went to the roof and waited for firefighters to arrive.

Two adults and five children were in the house at the time of the blaze. They were alerted to the fire by a smoke detector.

The father was taken to Uniontown Hospital for smoke inhalation. His condition is not known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
