BOSTON --

A Boston firefighter was arrested Monday, accused of beating a woman in Roxbury and then attacking police when they responded to the incident, according to the Boston Herald.

Police said that they were called to a home on Howard Avenue, where they found Wayne Abron, 41, in the back yard covered in blood, beating the woman. Officials said that they ordered him to stop, but he refused, and eventually struck the officers with his elbows, the Herald reported.

Abron was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was scheduled to face charges Monday in Roxbury District Court. The woman was not seriously injured.

Earlier this month, Boston firefighter Anthony Gaston was arrested for allegedly smoking marijuana while on duty in his fire vehicle.
