Fire officials said a church was a "total loss" after a Thursday afternoon blaze.
The incident occurred at about 3:10 p.m. at the Cloverdale Church of the Living God on South Elm Street.
Fire authorities determined that the fire was caused by a heating unit malfunction.
Officials said that three firefighters suffered from heat exhaustion, with two taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
The building was more than four decades old. A number of congregation members gathered outside to watch the story unfold.
The roof of the church, which has about 150 members, collapsed. The inside of the building was gutted.
No one was inside the church at the time of the fire, according to investigators.
Church members told WXII 12 News that the building can be replaced and that they were relieved to hear there were no serious injuries.
