Suspicious Texas House Fire Spreads To Neighboring Homes

Jan. 27, 2006
Four other homes in the new subdivision caught on fire earlier this week.

A fire that burned three homes in a new, mostly unoccupied subdivision in Kingwood Friday morning might be the work of a serial arsonist, investigators told KPRC Local 2.

Firefighters responded to the fire on Fairhope Meadow and Mallard Springs at about 3:30 a.m.

Investigators said the fire is suspicious for three reasons -- two of the homes damaged by the fire were unoccupied, had no power running to them and the fact that four other homes in the new subdivision caught on fire earlier this week.

Authorities said the home where the fire started was completely engulfed in flames and the second floor of a neighboring home was burning when they arrived at the scene.

A house on the other side of the home where the fire originated was already built and sustained roof damage.

Fire Department officials said someone called 911 reporting the fire, but they have no idea who made the call.

Authorities said a family living inside the only occupied home of the subdivision had no idea the homes were on fire.

No injuries were reported in the Friday morning fire.
