New York Investigators Believe Fire Set To Cover Up Murder

Police say the suspect has not yet been charged but that may change once a medical examiners report is released.

East Flatbush, New York-- Police are questioning a 72-year-old man after his 27-year-old wife was found dead in the burning apartment.

Eyewitness News reporter Ken Rosato is live in East Flatbush with the story. A lot of neighbors and police thought it was a bit suspicious to see the two-story brick building burning in East Flatbush. Then later on police found the a woman's body inside.

Police believe the fire may have been set up to cover up her killing.

Around 1:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon on East 57th Street, Clariton Road in East Flatbush, firefighters found Sabrina Haynes' body in the rear bedroom of a home she shared with husband, Lloyd Haynes. Her husband is 45 years her senior.

The house was burning but firefighters did get the fire out in 45 minutes. Upon doing so, they found Sabrina's body with slash marks to the wrist and face. That prompted police to take Mr. Haynes away in a police car to the 67th Precinct.

Police say he has not yet been charged but that may change once medical examiners report is released later on today.
