The cause of a huge fire on the edge of the French Quarter is now under control.
New Orleans firefighters battled the five-alarm blaze, which started around 3 a.m. in the 600 block of Canal Street on Tuesday.
Fire investigators said the fire started at the Popeye's restaurant on the corner of Chartres and Canal streets.
Firefighters and police had to evacuate nearby hotels but people have since returned to their rooms.
Officials said 10 police officers were treated for smoke inhalation when they tried to get people out of a Holiday Inn. Fortunately, no other injuries have been reported.
Canal Street is closed from Bourbon Street to Chartres Street in both directions and will remain that way for a few hours while the cause of the fire is investigated.
