Ex-Firefighter's Missouri Home Saved By Pumper He Donated

BISMARCK - About five months ago, Lou Fenelli did something most people wouldn't think of. Fenelli, a former firefighter from New Jersey and part owner of the CowGirl Cafe, donated a fire truck to the struggling Bismarck Fire Department.

On Sunday afternoon, he was able to see the fire truck he donated in action - at his own house.

Fenelli called 911 at 4:18 p.m. to report a chimney fire that had possibly spread in the wall of his home on Grider Road.

Bismarck Deputy Chief Chris Gibbons said firefighters arrived on the scene within four minutes and were able to extinguish the fire and remove all of the hot coals. He said the fire was contained to the chimney and the home did not suffer any damage.

Gibbons said when the 1981 Mack pumper that Fenelli purchased pulled up to his home, he said,
