PHILADELPHIA --

Two Philadelphia firefighters are recovering from injuries after battling a fire in the city's Kensington section.

The one-alarm fire tore through a rowhouse at the 1800 block of East Clearfield Street Monday morning.

Officials said the fire spread across the porch to the house next door.

One of the firefighters hurt his leg when he fell while fighting the flames.

"He either fell out a window or off the roof. He's in very good shape and he's been transported to an area hospital," said Deputy Chief Tom Garrity, with the Philadelphia Fire Department.

A second firefighter was also taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

No one else was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
