LAUREL, Md. --
Firefighters are battling a three-alarm blaze at an apartment building under renovation after being gutted by another fire in July.
The fire broke out in the Pines complex off Bowie Road about 1 p.m. Sunday and quickly jumped to three alarms. By 2 p.m., firefighters were backing off as flames threatened propane tanks and ignited a natural gas line.
One apartment was gutted by fire and collapsed. Two others were engulfed Sunday afternoon, officials said.
Firefighters called for help from Howard, Montgomery and Anne Arundel counties as the flames spread. There were no reports of injuries.
On July 22, 75 residents were forced from their homes as fire engulfed the building. That blaze damaged 31 apartments.
