Fire crews say they have heard the people's voices from inside the building and are trying to free them as quickly as possible.

The rooftop of a food warehouse in the Laurentians came tumbling down Wednesday afternoon, trapping three people inside.

Heavy snow may be to blame for the roof collapse at the warehouse at around 1 p.m. in the town of Morin Heights. The people trapped inside the building are all employees of the warehouse, according to a Morin Heights official.

After the collapse, a small fire started as a result of faulty electrical wires but the flames were quickly doused by firefighters. Smoke could still be seen billowing from the building

Fire crews say they have heard the people's voices from inside the building and are trying to free them as quickly as possible.

Dozens of people were inside the building when the roof came crashing down. Most of them made it out safely and are being sheltered at the Town Hall.

A number of ambulances are on the scene. It is not known if any of the victims have suffered serious injuries.

Hydro crews are also at the site cutting off power to the building to make sure there are no live wires.

Snow removal trucks carefully removed snow from the back of the building where the roof crumbled. Emergency crews were also being particularly careful around the unstable structure.

The town is located about two hours from Montreal.
