Neighbors said two children and their father were able to quickly escape the home on Northwest 74th Avenue and 76th Drive, but 7-year-old Mathew Stalvey was stuck inside.
Neighbors broke a window of the boy's bedroom and were able to pull him out.
"I woke up to my girlfriend screaming, 'There's somebody in the house. It's on fire. It's on fire.' So I ran out here in my shorts," said Francis Carpintero. "I broke the front window trying to look in because I wasn't exactly sure where the kid was. All I know is they were looking in with a flashlight and you couldn't see anything."
NBC 6's Hetal Gandhi reported that Mathew had breathing problems after getting out of the house and was taken to a hospital.
None of the children had life-threatening injuries.
Chopper 6 showed flames shooting out of the roof when firefighters arrived. They were able to get the blaze under control in about 30 minutes and prevented the fire from spreading to other homes.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
