A blaze broke out at a Barberton home Monday morning, killing one person and causing injuries to three firefighters.

The fire occurred at a Summit Street home. Before firefighters responded, two people tried to enter the home in rescue attempts, but were driven back by heavy smoke and flames.

When firefighters entered the house, they found one person already dead, an unidentified man. Three Barberton firefighters were transported to Barberton Citizens Hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
