Several fires burned on 100 acres of land Wednesday morning, causing concern for residents in a nearby northeast Harris County neighborhood, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Authorities with the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office said debris had been set on fire near Aldine Mail Road and Fall Meadow Lane at about 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Officials told KPRC Local 2 that the property owner likely set the fire on purpose to clear the area in order to develop the land.
Firefighters left the scene at about 5:30 a.m. because they were not concerned the fire would spread.
The fire marshal said residents in the area are not supposed to burn at night, and that the property owner could be cited for illegal burning.
