Nebraska Firefighters Fall Through Floor In Blaze

The crew got out safely.

Two firefighters fell through the floor of house where they were battling a blaze near Elkhorn Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters had to break through the front door of the house near 165th and Taylor streets to get to the fire. They said they could see flames in the entryway and kitchen as they entered the house. That is when the firefighters fell through the floor.

"There was actually a hole in the floor where two of the firefighters fell through," said Elkhorn Fire Chief Steve Morrissey. "One caught himself. The other was able to pull himself back out."

The crew got out safely.

The cause of the blaze in under investigation, but the house is said to be unlivable.
