Police say she had 2 wounds to the chest and that there were no signs of forced entry.

Firefighters responding to a house fire in suburban Calumet City found the body of a woman who had been shot or stabbed.

NBC5's Jennifer Mitchell reported Thursday that outside of the home on Burhnam Avenue police found a man who had been badly burned.

Responding to the home for a report of a fire at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday, firefighters found the 30-year-old husband of the deceased woman injured in the front yard.

His wife, Dana Williams, 26, was found dead and badly burned in a back bedroom after the fire was put out.

Police say she had 2 wounds to the chest and that there were no signs of forced entry. They have found traces of an accelerant.

"At this time it's way too early to make a determination as to what occured," said Chief Patrick O'Meara, of the Calumet City Police Department. "We are conducting a death investigation along with an arson investigation, due to the fact that it appears accelerants were used to start the fire."

Mitchell said police still have to question the husband who was listed in critical condition at Loyola Medical Center's burn unit Thursday night.

The couple has there young children, all of whom were at day care at the time of the fire, and are now staying with other relatives.
