THE COLONY, Texas --

Firefighters battled flames without the help of fire hydrants at a two-story home that was struck by lightning Tuesday morning.

Fire crews responded to the fire at the house in the 10600 block of Buccaneer Point near Lake Lewisville at about 4 a.m.

Officials said the home is on a street without fire hydrants, so firefighters had to use tanker trucks to supply water. Firefighters had to refill the tanker trucks with water from the lake.

Fire departments from Lewisville, Flower Mound, Carrollton and Denton County helped since the strong winds were making extinguishing the fire more difficult.

Officials said firefighters are dousing nearby homes with water so embers dont spread the fire.
