Ice Slows Response to Maryland Multi-Vehicle Crash

The crash involved up to 20 vehicles.

Up to 20 vehicles are involved in a crash on the sky ramp carrying Maryland Route 210 over the Capital Beltway. Prince George's County Fire and Rescue officials say it happened about 3:15 p.m. as the overpass just east of the Wilson Bridge glazed over with ice. Spokesman Mark Brady says between 15 and 20 cars collided.

No one appears to have life threatening injuries, but two people are trapped in their vehicles.

The slippery road conditions are slowing the emergency response, and salt and sand trucks have been called in to clear the way for ambulances.
