ATLANTA --
A warehouse burning in the Fulton Industrial district is sending a massive plume of dark smoke into the sky that is drifting eastward over the city of Atlanta.
Fulton County Fire Department Lieutenant Gregory Chambers says the fire broke out around 7 a.m. Monday in a building that was being used to store bales of carpet remains on Selig and Mendell Drive.
Chambers told Channel 2's John Cater that there are no injuries and they do not believe anyone was inside the warehouse when the fire began. He also said they expect the fire to burn for hours.
Chambers says the fire is contained to one warehouse. No other buildings in the industrial district south of Interstate 20 have been evacuated.
