Car Crashes Resulting in Gas Station Explosion on Staten Island

A car crashed into a gas station in the Richmond Town section of Staten Island.

(Staten Island-WABC, September 2, 2005) - A car crashed into a gas station in the Richmond Town section of Staten Island.

Eyewitness News has learned, the car careened into the gas pumps at the Getty Station at the intersection of Amboy Road and Clark Avenue. Officials say, the force of the crash caused the vehicle exploded in flames. Firefighters rushed to put out the flames and shut the flow of gas to the pumps.

The driver of the vehicle was being treated for multiple injuries.

The cause of the crash, which may have involved another car, is under investigation.
