BLOOMING GROVE, Wis. --

A man is dead after a fire burns down a home Saturday night in the town of Blooming Grove.

Authorities hadn't released many details late Saturday night pending notification of family members.

At approximately 5 p.m. Saturday evening, Dane County Sheriff's deputies along with six neighboring fire departments responded to the fire at 3295 Lee South Court in Blooming Grove.

The home was already completely engulfed by the time firefighters arrived on the scene. The man was found dead within the home.

A neighbor, Connie Hix, witnessed the fire. "We looked over our evergreen trees and we saw some black smoke, and we said 'something is going on,'" Hix said. "We came running out and all of the sudden, pop, two loud pops, and I got to the end of the driveway, and I saw the back of the neighbor's deck was on fire, totally engulfed in flames."

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but fire officials said the house is a total loss.
