Five people died in a house fire that broke out in Canton Thursday, NewsChannel5 reported.
According to battalion Chief Ray Harple, the house fire broke out just after 6 a.m. in the 1100 block of 2nd Street Southwest.
The fire claimed the lives of three adults and two children, officials said.
When firefighters arrived 90 seconds after the call was placed, the home was already fully engulfed, and the house next door had also caught fire, according to officials.
Harple said the flames caused the home to collapse. Firefighters and fire investigators remain at the scene.
There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
There was also another fire on Walnut Street in Canton that broke out around the same time. A family of five managed to escape that fire. Three people were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
