Seven Injured In Virginia Crash

Charlottesville and Albemarle firefighters and rescue crews responded to a multi-vehicle accident.

Charlottesville and Albemarle firefighters and rescue crews responded to a multi-vehicle accident with seven injured, three seriously on January 11. The accident happened on Ivy Road (Rt 250 West) and Rockfish Gap Tpk (Rt 250 West).

A Ford pickup east-bound attempted to make a right turn across the bridge. While attempting to execute the turn the pickup instead struck a white car, hit the bridge on left side of road and then rammed a red van on the right front and right side.

Two patients were extricated from the pickup, one passenger was extricated from the van, the driver and two passengers in rear of van self extricated and the driver in the white car self extricated.

The pickup was positioned on the side against the van.

Units responding included: Western Albemarle Rescue - Ambulance 503, Ambulance 504, Squad 505,Crozet Fire - Utilility 59, Engine 54, Engine 56, Brush 53, Chief 51, Albemarle Fire Rescue - EMS 11, Charlottesville Rescue - Ambulance 144, Ambulance 840 and Squad 135.

Further details on the patients were not available. Police have not released if any of the drivers will be charged.
