McKEES ROCKS, Pa. --

Fire crews were busy Tuesday morning with a three-alarm fire that burned two houses in McKees Rocks.

The blaze broke out at about 4:30 a.m. on Hamilton Street.

During the initial call, firefighters believed a family might have been trapped inside one of the homes, but officials said that wasnt the case.

The fire is believed to have started in a vacant house and then spread to a neighboring home.

Neighbor Bob Roman said he was worried for his friends, who live near the vacant home.

"You're just wishing and hoping and praying that everybody's out of there," he said.

The man inside the home did made it out safely, firefighters said.

Officials said several firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene but their injuries were not considered serious.

The cause of that fire is not known at this time.
