TAYLORS, S.C. --

A family of four escaped from their burning Taylors home Monday morning, and the fire led to some tense moments for firefighters.

Seven Taylors firefighters were inside the home when the roof collapsed, but all got out without injury.

The fire was first reported just after 5:30 a.m.

The fire chief on the scene said he believes the fire started in a laundry room near the home's garage.

The home was destroyed and the American Red Cross is working with the family to help them find shelter and offer other assistance.
