July 12, 2008

DEL CITY, Okla. --

Fire investigators said a child may have started the fire that damaged an Oklahoma City apartment complex Thursday afternoon.

The fire started in a bedroom at the Madison Village Apartments on Southeast 54th Street near Sunnylane Road. Flames were shooting out of the bedroom windows when firefighters first arrived.

All I know is my sons bedroom caught on fire, said April Rogers. I talked to my son and he said he saw the fire on the wall when it started, so I dont know exactly how it happened.

Fire investigators did not say how the fire started or if Rogers son was the one suspected.

Two apartments were damaged in the fire. Two others sustained water damage.

One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, but there were no other injuries.
