DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. --

Officials said Andrew Partridge, 5, was killed Wednesday morning when a fire broke out in his Decatur home.

The boy was trapped in the burning house at 2038 Yucca Drive, according to DeKalb Fire Department officials.

Channel 2s Anissa Centers spoke with Partridges aunt who was in the house when the fire broke out. She said her oldest niece tried to get Andrew to leave with the rest of them. She heard Andrew calling out but he wont walk in the dark by himself, said Andrews aunt, Candace Martin.

His aunt said firefighters found Andrew under the bed where he had gone to hide.

Andrew was only 5 years old but his family said you could tell he was special.

Every time when I would come over he would always give me my big hug. It wouldnt be around my neck, it would be around my legs, said Andrews great-aunt Lizzie Gray. We realize that God doesnt make mistakes and it was his time to go and this was the way He had planned for him to go.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
