ORLANDO, Fla. --

Firefighters battled a brush fire that started in an Orlando homeless camp Monday.

Crews from Orlando and Orange County Fire Departments responded to the blaze shortly after 11 a.m. The fire burned in a wooded area north of WD Judge Road.

WD Judge Road was closed between Ferguson Drive and John Young Parkway.

Orlando Fire Department District Chief Dawn Sumter said the fire began in one of the area's many homeless camps. Sumter said it displaced about 10 homeless people.

The fire burned roughly two acres before it was contained, including the homeless camp where it began. Sumter said it took about 30 minutes to control the blaze.

Sumter said the fire department is still investigating the incident, and she did not know whether any citations will be issued.

There were no injuries, and no property damage, Sumter said.
