Man Killed in Indianapolis Duplex Fire

Firefighters said a man, identified as Ovidio Acevedo, 32, was trapped on the second level on one side of the duplex.

INDIANAPOLIS --

A man was killed Saturday in a duplex fire on the city's east side.

Officials said the blaze broke out at about 8:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Tacoma Avenue.

Firefighters said a man, identified as Ovidio Acevedo, 32, was trapped on the second level on one side of the duplex.

Acevedo was later pronounced dead at Wishard Memorial Hospital. According to a coroner's report, he died of smoke inhalation.

Fire officials said they are not yet sure what sparked the blaze.
